Nisrin Elamin is originally from Sudan. She currently works as a Trainer and Curriculum Specialist at the NYC based youth development organization Global Kids. During the summer of 2009 she used her experience as an oral historian to conduct interviews and document projects in Darfur to inspire people in the U.S. and the diaspora to support grassroots Sudanese-led community organizing efforts in the region. She has been speaking publicly and writing about the need to connect directly to organizations and human rights activists on the ground when doing advocacy, fundraising and U.S. based solidarity work to support Darfur through a variety of outlets.
